| When its time to go to
Germany again, Arne Österlindh has joined The Spotnicks for the first time and he
also takes part in the recording of The
Spotnicks 20th Anniversary Album, which is released
later this year. They also record songs like Ghostriders in the sky, Gyros pitta and Guitars on 45, but these tracks arent released until the following year. On a German compilation called Happy Guitar, the songs Bilitis, El lute and Maybe, recorded in 1979, are included.

| During the summer The Spotnicks record a couple of songs that, together with recordings from 1980 and 1981 form the LP We dont wanna play Amapola no more. They also record two songs for the Japanese market; Lonesome city sadness and The silky way. | ||

| During the spring, the new Spotnicks start a successful tour of Sweden. This tour continues in October in Germany and Belgium with 22 concerts (!) and lots of TV performances. | ||
| They also play in Norway. In
December the LP In the middle of
universe, recorded during the same year with the new
line-up, is released. Peter Wiberg also plays on the album. Earlier this year they have released two songs, included in somewhat different versions on the album, on a numbered single exclusively released for The Spotnicks Swedish fan club; Dont stop and Time is tight. On the 22th of December a long anniversary programme about The Spotnicks is shown in Swedish television. This show also includes a live concert recorded in the TV studio in Gothenburg. |

| Because of the success, the old albums The Spotnicks in London and in Paris are re-released by SweDisk. | ||
| The Viking Truckers release the LP Love on the road and they also appear on a big country gala held in Gothenburg. | ||

to play in The Viking Truckers, due to provisions of a contract.

| The Spotnicks new LP is released in many European countries, in Germany as a picture-LP, a rare collectible for fans. | ||
| In Sweden the album cover is changed when the second edition is released. The reason for this is that Arne Österlindh wasnt on the original jacket. | ||
| During a big part of the year The Spotnicks tour in for example Sweden, Germany, Belgium and Denmark. | ||
| In March they play in Jönköping and in May a fan club meeting is arranged in Södertälje, when the band is playing there. In April the group does a concert for the Swedish radio and this is broadcast live. On the 26th of June they play in Karlsborg. | ||
| Unfortunately, this successful line-up of The Spotnicks break up already in November this year, due to disagreements and problems in collaboration. | ||
| Instead, Bo Winberg meet up with
Bob Lander and Björn Thelin again and together with Arne Österlindh, Lasse Öhberg and
Ove Lindell they record the LP Highway
boogie. Björn and Bob both play on Let it roll, roll, roll and Truckdrivers Dream, Bob plays on Could it be love as well, while Ove only plays on Highway boogie.

| The Spotnicks appear in a live broadcast TV show called 'Avenyn rätt upp och ner', recorded in Gothenburg. Tommy Tausis has now replaced Lasse Öhberg on drums. Among other songs, this album includes the theme from the TV series Simon and Simon and on this track a female saxophonist called Elisabeth (surname unknown) plays. is released in Germany. It is the album Highway Boogie from 1985, completed with
5 bonus tracks from The Spotnicks in
Time.

| The Spotnicks do a couple of concerts in Sweden. On the 3rd of June, they visit Karlsborg and Carlsborgsparken again. During the autumn The Spotnicks get a longer engagement on the ferry between Gothenburg and Kiel.

| Bob Lander joins The Spotnicks
once again. In April The Spotnicks get a two-day-engagement on a car exibition in Jönköping. I arrange a fan club meeting after one of the gigs and all band members assemble for a shrimp sandwich. Bo Winberg is in great spirits and he tells us several funny stories about The Spotnicks. |

| The group do a lot of touring this year and they visit for example Hungary for the first time ever. | ||
| Directly after returning home, on the 26th of August, The Spotnicks play in Karlsborg (not the first gig there...). | ||

| Among the record releases this year is a "re-release" of The Spotnicks Live in Berlin -74, which consists of alternate takes, compared to the original release. | ||
| On the 1st of October The Spotnicks Swedish fan club arrange a nice party at Hindås Hotell outside Gothenburg. | ||
